Have you ever pulled a Nancy Kerrigan and said, “Why Me?” when faced with doubt, uncertainty, or life’s difficult times? Sure you have. If not, you’re probably not human. Life is tough and it’s easy to get down on yourself.
I’ve been there before where it feels like nothing is going right and the world is against you. In the society we live in today we’re conditioned to think a certain way. Once we learn this mindset it’s surprisingly hard to overcome.
Society creatively conditions to think there’s not enough to go around. We’re taught to believe we’re just unlucky, and that we’ll never be able to live our dream life.
Mainstream society’s ultimate goal is to turn us into a lifetime consumer, rather than a lifetime creator. Welcome to the machine…
However, it doesn’t have to be this way. Here are three keys to change your life and live the life you’re called to:
Change Your Thoughts – I’ve shared this before and I’ll say it again, we’re mindful of what we put into our cars but not our minds. We don’t put diesel into a normal engine and vice versa. How can we assume if we listen to garbage on the radio, watch it on tv, and read it on social media our outlook will be positive? It won’t. What goes in comes out. So, in order to change our life we must foolproof our minds by being mindful of what we read, watch, and listen to!
Change Our Beliefs – Say it with me, “IT’S POSSIBLE!” Have you ever thought about what happens to the people you look up to in your industry when they die? Have you ever wondered if the people you look up to are really that much better than you? The truth is, they’re not. They’re all delivering the same message, just through different stories. If it’s possible for them, it’s possible for you.
Don’t believe me?
In the world renown book The Alchemist, the clear message delivered is: “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
In a book all the greats reference, Think and Grow Rich, we’re taught: “Every man is what is because of the dominating thoughts which he permits to occupy his mind.” What the mind can conceive, it can achieve. We just have to believe!
Lastly, take it from The Bible. In Proverbs 23:7 it says, “As a man thinks, so he is.” In Mark 9:23 it says, “Everything is possible for him who believes.” And finally in Matthew 7:8 it says, “For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Change Your Circle – The hardest thing to overcome on your path to the life your called to live are the people who tug against you within your circle. When was the last time you did an audit? It’s essential to take a look at who’s draining your energy and who’s filling your bucket. Who’s pouring into and inspiring you? The great George Raveling recently tweeted, “If you look around the room and think ‘God these people are amazing’ then you’re most likely in the right room.”
I encourage you to find your purpose and passion and chase it. We only have one life on earth. It’s time to stop living the life society says, “we’re supposed to” and live the life we feel called to deep within our soul.
I’m eternally grateful for you taking the time to read this. Please share this with someone who can benefit from it.
If we haven’t connected yet on social or LinkedIn I’d love to!
As always, thanks for reading, have a great week, and be an RGP today!
