Two Questions for 2018…

Micky was in the later stages of his life. He was fortunate to experience the world for over 90 years, and for the most part he lived what most would consider a great life. He had a family, friends, and a solid career.

It wasn’t until he joined a senior living community in his mid 80’s when he began to think back on his life. Even though he had lived a quality life, Micky began to experience regret. He felt bad for the feeling because at the same time he was grateful for all he had experienced.

However, there was one question which wouldn’t leave his mind. It was there when he woke up and it was there when he went to sleep.

The question was: What if?

As we wrap up 2017 and begin 2018 I want you to think about the following two question:

Do you have dreams? Does your work ethic match your ambition?

In 2018 I want you to stop worrying about what others think, say, and what they have. You need to stop caring about what others accomplish, and start focusing on what you want to accomplish. In the new year stop worrying about what some family members may say, think, or feel. It’s time to cut any dead weight which is keeping your plane from taking off.

You have a dream inside you that’s been given to you. It’s not anyone else’s, and not many are going to understand or want it. That’s okay, because it’s yours. Some will laugh, mock, or ridicule you. Again, it’s okay. You’ve been given the dream for a reason, and if you’re relying on the approval of others, you’ll never realize it.

Find out what you like and what you’re good at. Then find a way to do that every day. Forget about everybody and everything else that gets in the way of you doing what you love. I want you to care more about what you think of yourself than you do about what others think of you. That’s all that matters.

You might say, “Yeah Kyle, that sounds all great and all but I’ve got bills to pay. I got kids to feed. That’s all pie in the sky stuff.”

My response: Good.

I hear you. I have all of things too. Here’s my question. How much tv do you watch? How many shows did you binge watch on Netflix this year? What do you do after your kids go to bed and before they get up? You can create a side hustle. You can get a different job that allows you to work on side projects. If there’s a will, there’s a way.

You can have excuses or you can have results; but you can’t have both.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day. The difference between the ones who have what they want and realize their dreams is how they use their time.

Listen, if someone can honestly say they are living the life of their dreams and they are 100% happy with their jobs, where they live, how they live, and how they give back; I AM HAPPY FOR YOU. I have no issues at all. I applaud you.

Here’s the deal, most people will say they’re good, but they’re not. They have a dream but they’re afraid to chase it because they might lose what they have.

Don’t end up like Micky. Don’t get to the end of your life and have the question of  What if?” hanging over your head.

There’s going to be challenges in the road. There’s going to be long nights. You’re going to have to make sacrifices. I want you to about this:

If you have a dream and the ability to achieve it and you don’t go for it; it’s selfish.

Here’s 11 ways to chase your dream in 2018:

  1. Fail. Be patient. Hustle.
  2. Fail. Be patient. Hustle.
  3. Fail. Be patient. Hustle.
  4. Keep going. Hustle.
  5. Reset. Shift. Reload. Hustle
  6. Fail. Be patient. Hustle.
  7. Learn. Grow. Hustle.
  8. Find a mentor. Ask questions. Read books and listen to podcasts.
  9. Execute. Grind. Hustle.
  10. Applaud and love yourself.
  11. Have faith. Trust the process. And FTH.

2018 can be the year for you. Chase your dreams with unbridled passion and enthusiasm. No matter how slow you go, keep going. You’ll always be lapping the person on couch binge watching Netflix.
